Aching eyes are an unfortunate byproduct of staring at a computer all day! Believe it or not, remembering to blink is an important first step to easing and even preventing eyestrain.Dry, itchy, “computer eyes” are unpleasant, but you can avoid them! Start by wiping the dust from your computer regularly. Dust on the screen contributes to glare. This makes it too difficult to see, and forces your eyes to work overtime. Next, remember to blink! Most of us blink HALF as frequently when staring at the computer and this leads to dry eyes. “Blink breaks” will encourage your eyes to produce lubricating tears. Finally, give your eyes a work-out! Hold a finger a few inches in front of your face and focus on it. Then follow the finger with your eyes as you slowly move it away. Repeat this exercise three times a day at random intervals. With these handy tips in your pocket, eyestrain will be a thing of the past in, well…a blink!
