While clinical depression should be treated by a doctor, mild bouts of the blues can be treated by a tuna sandwich! If it’s one of those days where everything feels awful, maintain your sanity (and your job) by emulating your second-grade self and trading lunches.  Try a tuna sandwich with spinach leaves on whole-wheat bread. Tuna is loaded with a type of polyunsaturated fat that encourages your nervous system to send “happy” chemicals through your body. Wheat bread is a complex carbohydrate that bolsters production of the hormone serotonin.  And the spinach? It’s high in folic acid, a mineral that has been found lacking in up to 50 percent of depressed people. If you’re not a fan of spinach, you can substitute with a folic acid supplement.  Try this blues-busting meal and you’ll remember all over again why—once upon a time—lunch was the best part of the school day!
