What if one tweak to your kids’ routine could help them to do better in class and keep their weight steady?Believe it or not, one tweak can do all of that and it’s simply ensuring your kids get a well-balanced breakfast every morning. Forty percent of children don’t, and that’s bad news, because studies show that kids don’t consume the missed nutrients later. Breakfast eaters do better in math and reading at school. They also have reduced blood pressure and less chance of developing diabetes! Unfortunately, a donut isn’t the nutritional powerhouse that kids need. Instead, try one of these fun ideas. Make a banana dog with peanut butter, a banana, and raisins in a whole-grain bun. A breakfast taco is a corn tortilla filled with low fat cheese and topped with salsa. Or try the old stand-by of whole-grain cereal, milk, and berries. Whatever your children eat, just make sure they do…they don’t call it the most important meal of the day for nothing!
